/03/2007 - Erhan Can employers really use these websites to make a decision? Surely it can influence their decision but using it as a reason to withdraw an offer surely is a form of discrimination and the individual can sue the employer right? Add comment |

/03/2007 - Andi i don't see it being a big thing for employers or recruitment companies to use and if it is, they shouldn't base their decisions to hire someone on that but whether they can do the job, have enough experience etc etc. but im sure people will go against this, but who would want to work for someone who would do this and didn't allow them to be themselves? 20/03/2007 - Tim I think that the worst part of this whole process it is that you won't necessarily know if you've been to rejected because of your myspace profile or a 'real' reason. I doubt employers will inform you that it is the real reason you didn't get the job! Add comment |

/03/2007 - Chris I think it's quite silly that employers base their decisions on something that is completely "social" and has no bearing on their ability to do the Job. Paul Farrer made an interesting comment with regards to the future of recruitment and the advent of "digital" profiles. This is fine because they will be profiles used for the purpose of getting a job, not something to meet old school friends or people who like The Smiths !!!! Saying that though i am nosey, i think it would be interesting to look at the myspace or facebook profiles of people i work with. Add comment |

/03/2007 - Paul Farrer I agree, in fact it started in the States and was used by certain interest and shareholder groups to undermine business leaders who had put their information on alumni sites. I am a cynic and think that certain employers will even considerthe photo's and what people look like which will take us back to the dark ages. Add comment |

/03/2007 - Kiki My advise would be to set your profile to private when you are looking for a job. Employees should only hire applicants based on their skills but I always think it's better to be safe than be sorry. Add comment |
