Channel 4 marketing director to leave

Channel 4's director of marketing, Polly Cochrane, is said to be leaving the television broadcaster early in the new year, the Guardian has reported.

The move comes as Channel 4 restructures the company and reorganises the 170-strong marketing division.

It also marks ten years of Ms Cochrane's working at the broadcaster.

Speaking about her chance to move on, Ms Cochrane stated that it was a "natural time to move on" and that "it has been a privilege to be entrusted with the Channel 4 brand during such a dynamic period of diversification and change".

The broadcaster already has plans to cut jobs by around 15 per cent from 1,000 to 850, and it hopes to save around £100 million in the next two years as a result.

Ms Cochrane has been accredited with creating a recognisable imagery for the successful E4 brand and she is recognised for her work in launching More4 and making Film4 free-to-air.

It is thought that Ms Cochrane will retain some responsibility until the new year, although the Guardian report states that Channel 4 chief executive Andy Duncan has said that he has no plans to replace the position immediately.
