JCDecaux is to manage and develop outdoor media at 85 Waitrose sites across the country, after winning a competitive tender.
The
leading outdoor advertiser, responsible for BT's phone booth campaigns,
will now be offering six-sheet panels at stores in Leigh on Sea,
Beckenham, South Harrow, Sudbury and Tonbridge, among other key sites.
Spencer
Berwin, managing director of sales at JCDecaux told Media Week:
"Waitrose is not only the fastest growing major grocer, with sales up
by 11 per cent on last year and a four per cent increase in retail
space, but their regular shoppers are spending more than ever which
makes Waitrose an increasingly attractive proposition for advertisers
across a wide range of categories."
The company last month won
Media Brand of the Year at the Chartered Institute of the Marketing
Excellence Awards for its management of the BT phone-box advertising
contract since 2007.
It was praised for making phone-box
advertising much more relevant to younger audiences, through its
StreetTalk campaign which focused primarily on products suited to the
harder-to-reach demographic.
