Daniel Craig lends image to Sony

Daniel Craig is to star as James Bond in a new advert for Sony high definition television products, it has been revealed.

Timed to create awareness of the film as well as Sony's high definition range of televisions, the advert was first aired last night (Wednesday 15th), a little over two weeks before the cinema launch of the new James Bond film the Quantum of Solace.

"Sophistication, quality and international appeal make James Bond a perfect fit with the Sony brand," said Matt Coombe, the general manager of marketing for Sony UK in a Guardian report.

The launch of a Bond-themed Sony Vaio laptop also capitalises on Sony's affiliation with 007, and comes at a time when marketing is said to be experiencing a downturn in fortunes.

Marketing is suffering from conservative spending among businesses, which are turning away from the essentially speculative costs of marketing while the economic downturn is having an effect.

With even internet advertising taking a hit, jobs are still available but hopeful applicants may find that they have to offer more in order to be considered for roles within marketing companies.
