Recruiters need to 'widen the net'

As older employees embrace the internet more and more job adverts should reflect such a change and be put online, it has been argued.
Instead, businesses are currently shooting themselves in the foot by advertising simply in newspapers and other print mediums, therefore restricting the number of quality applicants they will benefit from.
Jo Causon, director of marketing and corporate affairs at the Chartered Management Institute, said: "Clearly a concern for employers should be about how to avoid wasting the impressive talent pool that exists in the UK."
The failure to maximise the potential of the talent pool can be applied to graduate recruitment.
Tech-savvy graduates may benefit from looking for adverts found in print publications as well as online, to reduce the risk of making the same mistakes as employers have been found to be making.
