Thompson Reuters defies predictions

Many of its clients have been hit by the economic downturn which has long-threatened to turn into a full recession in 2009, but the company itself appears to have averted disaster.
Thomson Reuters chief executive Tom Glocer explained that the integration of the two companies had started providing benefits from September this year.
"Our results demonstrate the strength, breadth, depth and balance of our company as our business continued to perform well in the third quarter," he said.
"The strong growth and profitability of our large professional division highlighted its ability to perform well through the economic cycle, while our markets division delivered good results despite extreme conditions in global financial markets."
The company is now said to be positive about completing the year with like-for-like revenue growth of between six and eight per cent on last year.
